1-2-3-4 Cake Recipe
A 1-2-3-4 Cake is an easy, quick, and delicious yellow cake that you can whip up almost with a written recipe. It gets its name from the simplicity of ingredients: One(1) cup of butter, Two(2) cups of sugar, Three(3) cups of flour and four(4) eggs. This is a cake that will surely impress family and friends with its basic goodness and versatility. Pair it with a Chocolate Buttercream Frosting and have a cake that is perfect for birthdays and all forms of family celebrations.
1 Cup Unsalted Softened Butter
2 Cups Granulated Sugar
3 Cups Cake Flour
4 Large Eggs
1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
1 Cup Milk
2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
Preheat Oven to 350 degrees and spray 2 9″ cake pans with baking spray(with flour)
In a large bowl of your mixer, add butter and sugar to beat at medium speed till light and fluffy. (3-4 minutes)
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each one.
In a separate bowl, stir together flour and baking powder. Slowly add to the butter mixture alternating with milk, beginning and ending with flour. Beat just until combined and stir in vanilla.
Pour into pans, smoothing the top with an offset spatula.
Bake 28-30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean from center.
Allow to cool for 10 minutes and remove from pans, placing on a wire rack.
If you are making a layer cake, put your favorite jam between the layers and frost the top with white icing.
Make a single layer cake and put pineapple glaze on top.
Use a lemon curd filling on your 1-2-3-4 cake and sift powdered sugar on top.
Make as a bundt cake and top with caramel icing.
Top with Strawberry Icing and add fresh strawberries on top for a summertime dessert.
